The pull to create art from what I see and feel outside has been a constant in my life, and it’s how I relate to the places around me. My goal as an artist is to bring others into that same space of curiosity, admiration, and connection with the natural world.

Nyssa Prowell is an artist and naturalist living in Skagit County, WA.

She has a B.S. in Natural Resources from Oregon State University, and a graduate certificate in Science Illustration from California State University, Monterey Bay.

Her interest in the natural world has carried her to work and study in a variety of places across the west – from Washington State, to Montana, Oregon, California, and back to Washington again. Her varied outdoor field work experiences have informed her familiarity and fondness for the flora and fauna of the western US, which in turn also inspire her artistic pursuits.

She works with a variety of mediums such as watercolor, pencil, acrylic, digital media, printmaking, and wood burning. Some of her favorite projects include making interpretive panels, field sketching, and painting murals.
